TOWES Research With Employment Assistance Providers
(March 17, 2005) - TOWES has been working in four different regions in
Canada with 12 different Employment Assistance Program (EAP) providers
to look at using TOWES in their practices. The goal of this research is
to determine the utility of essential skills methodology within employment
assistance programs. A pilot project is being conducted in London, Kingston,
Cranbrook, Trail, Nelson, and Vancouver We are testing a total of more
than 400 EAS clients who are either receiving Employment Insurance funding,
or Reachback funding (those who have collected EI in the past 3 years).
The study also includes individuals who are not working and have not worked
having no access to Employment Insurance funding.
This project entails testing individuals using the TOWES G2 and then using
their test results to create a custom results report aligning their scores
skills with those skills required to perform the top 10 occupations in
their geographical location. This will differ for each client. A second
report will show the client's score and a listing of all the suitable occupations
at that level. This study commenced in late January and will conclude on
June 15, 2005.
The partners who are involved in this study include:
- Douglas College
- Fanshawe
College
- College of the Rockies
- St. Lawrence College
