Conrad
Murphy

Conrad is the originator of TOWES. The idea of creating a tool that measured skills in the context of work came to him as he became familiar the IALS research conducted by Statistics Canada in 1994. Conrad helped to establish a joint venture with SkillPlan, BC and secured the investment required to build the test bank. In 2003, Bow Valley College acquired sole ownership of TOWES and Conrad has been the Director since then. Conrad has worked hard with the rest of the TOWES team to develop a national distributorship system and to make improvements in the production process.

Michael

Our top national account manager (also our only national manager), Michael is responsible for creating and managing our growing list of national distributors - currently 43 colleges, ngo's, AHRDA's, and private companies. Michael also provides consultancy services to some of our key business customers.

Krista
Medhurst
Team Lead/Special Projects

Krista manages the increasing amount of national project work that TOWES does in the area of essential skills research and product development. Current projects include the development of a French language version of TOWES and an online preparation course for TOWES test takers. She also leads or supports the creation of custom version of TOWES - she recently finished new versions for Suncor/Syncrude and a version for Safety Codes Officers.

Alisa manages the development, delivery and marking of TOWES, creation of custom test booklets and new distributor test administration training. Alisa is currently managing the TOWES On-line project.

Production Assistant

Fatma assists in the production of TOWES booklets - marking, quality checking, scores and issuing results. She is a graduate of Bow Valley College.

Kaesy Russnak
TOWES Production Assistant

Kaesy assists in the daily operations of TOWES test production. This includes test marking/quality checking, database and inventory maintenance, entry and marking of test results and proofi ng of newly developed tests. Kaesy is able to communicate in both French and English.

Kirsten works on a part-time basis to provide product development and consulting services to the TOWES team and our external clients. She is currently working with the TOWES team on the development of the Essential Skills Online learning project, as well as creating and updating TOWES policies and procedures.

Julya assists with the development, marketing and communications activities for the French language version of TOWES.

Watkin
Systems Analyst

We call him Dave the database guy because he manages both the test item bank and scoring algorithm of TOWES. He is also acting as the technical supervisor for an online TOWES preparatory course, which is currently under development. Using Dave's expertise, the TOWES team is able to generate a variety of different reports for distributors and customers.
