TOWES Online
Customers and distributors requested an online version of TOWES, and we’re listening.
TOWES has responded by creating an online version of the General Series level 2/3 assessment.
The web-based test is the same as the paper-based G2 series. It still requires a formal, supervised setting and test takers will receive a source document booklet, which is a paper copy of the workplace documents used in the assessment.
When writing the assessment, test takers will have the option of viewing the source documents online or in hard copy format but provide their answers online. The test is graded online and then reviewed to ensure our quality standards are maintained.
The GEN 201L offers some great features for test takers. It includes a section for test takers to customize their results report by comparing their scores to more than 200 Canadian occupations using the Essential Skills Profiles associated with the National Occupational Classification System.
The features of the GEN 201L are beneficial not only for the test taker but also for the distributor. Alisa Foreman, Production Coordinator of TOWES, says the online test offers another valuable option for test takers.
“There is less administrative paperwork and it will reduce turnaround times and courier costs,” she says.
The G Series online tool is ready for piloting and will be available in the New Year. Distributors will be contacted in January with information about online test administration training. In addition to the GEN 201L, TOWES also developed an online version of a custom test, the Key 701L Oil Sands Pre-Employment Test. This is a custom version of TOWES used by Suncor and Syncrude as part of their recruitment assessment process for entry-level positions in Fort McMurray, Alta. Keyano College provides test administration services for this version.
TOWES is hoping to include more versions of the assessment online in the near future.
TOWES Distributors will be contacted in the New Year to sign up for weekly scheduled Test Administration Training dates and times.
