CARS
TOWES is very excited about a new project underway for the Canadian Automotive Repair and Service (CARS) Council.
CARS is a Canada-wide, not-for-profit sector council that supports workers and employers involved in the automotive repair and service industry. The Council, which researches the industry’s human-resource needs, develops training to help employees enjoy safe and rewarding careers, for employers to create successful businesses, and for customers to benefit from excellent services.
The evolution of this project stems from previous CARS research that identified the importance of oral communication and problem-solving skills and how they play a significant part in the success of industry workers. This is an exciting opportunity for TOWES the Essential Skills of Oral Communication and Problem Solving are new to the TOWES assessment product line.
Half of this unique assessment is completed using the telephone with a test administrator and the other half is done individually using a paper-based format. Currently, TOWES is piloting its beta version of the test—in English and French. When the beta testing is complete, all results and feedback will be analyzed for the final report.
The final assessment will involve about 700 workers from across Canada, in English and French, and will begin in 2008.
