Sheridan launches third-party TOWES Test Administrator Training in Ontario
submitted by Flo Babiak, Essential Skills Coordinator, Oakville Campus
Sheridan College Institute of Advanced Learning and Technology is the first college in Ontario to authorize third-party test administration.
Sheridan’s Flo Babiak provided third-party test administration to the college’s first customer, the Centre for Skills Development and Training, and soon discovered she and her team had bitten off more than they could chew.
Deadlines required that training was completed during the busiest time of year—the middle of December.
The team—comprised of Barb Glass from Canadore College, Sandra Hennessey from College Sector Committee for Adult Upgrading, and Babiak—forged on and became the first to pilot the delivery of the curriculum. The trio completed the training for the Centre for Skills Development and Training on December 18, 2007, and received excellent feedback. Additional content was further developed from the critiques.
Since the training, new third-party test administrators have administered G2 TOWES to multiple clients. Client feedback revealed the Measure Up activities were an excellent resource.
Sheridan is pleased to be the first third-party site in Ontario and eager to learn more with a goal to expand testing and add value to clients.
Sheridan is dedicated to exceptional applied learning and graduate success. The college provides skill-based educational programs that integrate theory with application, offering career programs in visual and performing arts, business, community services, and technical fields to close to 15,000 full-time students at two campuses.
